Lights Camera Read Introduces Two New
Pias Nominees

It's Platinum Pias season of nominees again, that time of year when we await the weekly nominations in the build to the awards show itself. It is well known that when Lights Camera Read produced the first Platinum Pias in 2010 it was to thank participants in a community parade. But it was also to foster the idea of mentors, apprentices and the creative process.

The ultimate mentor has been nominated for a Platinum Pia - Julie Newmar. Julie Newmar is probably best known as the original Catwoman in the "Batman" TV series. But she has had a several decades long career spanning Broadway to having a movie starring Patrick Swayze with her name in in the title called "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar."

Ms. Newmar was interviewed for the Lights Camera Read documentary "Celebrity Entrepreneurship: Youth Empowerment" which will premiere at the Platinum Pias Awards in New York City.

The documentary is an example of where Julie Newmar has been a mentor, in that she gave advice to budding creative entrepreneurs of how to go from one step to the other.

She is being nominated for the "Artist Platinum Pia" for her incredible body of work including her book "The Conscious Catwoman Explains Life on Earth."

With her various works and activities, including those outside of the arts, she embodies the very spirit of the artist entrepreneur making a difference in society.

Julie Newmar is a pioneer, and the legendary legacy she has left on the world of acting and dance has impacted actors and dancers internationally. Her presence is felt in the influence she has had on some of the nominees of Lights Camera Read's Platinum Pias Awards.

Also at the Pias ceremony will be our fifth nominee: Dancer/Choreographer Tina Gross who is known in the Inwood, Manhattan community as "Miss Tina." She is the head of BPAC (Broadway Performing Arts Center) and has been nominated in the "Community Entrepreneurs Pia" category opposite Evy of Evydent and Manny of Dichter's Pharmacy.

And you can show your support for Miss Tina by signing up for the "NYC Make a Difference" Newsletter at "Entertainment Entrepreneurship," then sending a testimonial to the email you'll find on the subscribe completed page. Judges do factor in "people's choice" into the final decision criteria.
